How can I work out my lower body by biking?

I do my upper body at the gym, but the idea of going to the gym 7 days a week just doesn’t fly with me. Can I do intense bike rides to build my lower body? If so, what should I do? What kind of biking and how long? I have a mountain bike with all the gears and stuff and other proper equipment. What should I do? Thanks, I appreciate it.
I’m interested in building size and strength.

Answer
If you’re looking for strength training you want to do hills and sprinting in high gears. Steep short hills like often found on mountain trails is great. On the road find a hilly area, or if you must do 1 hill over and over. Ride steep and or in a high gear it will replicate reps in the gym. Road riding allows more control of your work out. If you have no hills sprint very hard in high gears for 15 to 30 seconds followed by a couple minutes rest and repeat. Sounds like the gym doesn’t it? Legs need longer and more reps than the upper body. 3 times a week for 30 minutes or so will do it. If you have the energy you can do same day as upper body too. Finally, keep your RPMs lower than 80, read high gears, this works the legs but good.

Pocket Rockets And Dirt Bikes Latest Sensation Burning Race Tracks

The market is flooded with an entire range of Pocket rockets and super racers that have the best speed to match its weight. These are some of the fastest and the lightest bikes on the blocks and are manufactured using the latest automobile technologies. There are so many types that are present like pocket rocket, pit bikes, dirt bikes, mini dirt bikes, choppers, mini choppers and mini pocket quad.

The most craziest of them all being the choppers that can be converted to hide each and every screw present in it.The chic chopper is loved by every bike lover. It is by far the most powerful of the bikes on the market excepting the traditional motorcycles. But a chopper is no kid’s play.During a race it can certainly be handled only by those that are champions in bike racing with sufficient exposure to such bikes.

The necessity for the manufacturers of the chopper to take up the smaller version of the chopper was essentially to cater to the persons that were only apprentice at the moment. The mini choppers as they came to be known as were the younger siblings of the chopper and came with the same stamina and strength and speed as did the latter. It is quite easy to operate as well as more inexpensive.Customization is the key here as well and the one thing that comes with highest level of customization capacity is the gear ratio which can be changed in order to achieve the gear transmission and alignment of the mini chopper.

One more kind of bike meant for the proletarian riders is the dirt bike. The rider makes a very stylish statement with a dirt bike.It is very powerful and comes with similar characteristics as these new age bikes: higher speed to weight ratio ,lighter, speedier and much more sturdier. The teenagers can lay their hands on the mini dirt bikes very safely. There is no difference between these bikes and their earlier ones in terms of its usability and working. It is just that the size of the engine has been altered to make it small for higher protection.

At an earlier period both the mini choppers and mini dirt bikes were sold for anything between $1500 to $2000.There has been a tremendous reduction in the price of these bikes due to the technological improvement in the automobile arena. The cost of these mini dirt bikes are only $500 which can be bought to given anyone on Christmas. The price of the mini chopper will be increased or decreased to $500 with the kind of modifications that one seeks.

What type of bicycle can be used for light mountain biking and riding around my neighborhood?

I am looking for a bike that I can use not only for easy mountain biking trails, but also for riding around my neighborhood. I have seen hybrid bikes and Im not totally sure what those are. Can someone please help me or point me in the right direction!!! Thanks

Answer
You sound like a candidate for a hybrid. They are called that because they are a cross between a road and mountain bike. The frame is similar to a mountain bike. Wheels are the same diameter as road bikes (700C) but narrower and tires have less aggressive treads than a true mountain bike. They often have front (and maybe seat) suspension, but they will usually have mountain bike style handlebars and gears. They are well suited to city roads, bike paths and hardpack trails, but being a hybrid are less suited to long, fast road rides than a road bike or to rough/demanding trails than a mountain bike. What to Look For in Rugged Mountain Bikes

When you are shopping around for rugged mountain bikes, there are a few features that you absolutely cannot do without. If you are looking for downhill, mud runs or cross country sprees, you want to find the selection that is going to give you the best mobility without compromising on safety. There are numerous selections out there and a little careful consideration given to the type of riding you plan on doing can help you select the right one.

Mountain bikes are meant for the ambitious rider that likes to go off the beaten path and who enjoys the challenge and adventure of off road travel. These bikes are heavier than cross country bikes and by far more durable. They are made for the hairpin turns, dirt roads and no roads at all. When you want to ride on a rocky and steep slope, you need a mountain bike.

Suspension is everything when you are going off of the pavement. You want something that is going to take it a bit easier on the bumps and thuds that are guaranteed to be present. Many newer versions offer strong suspension on both the front and rear wheels of the bicycle.

Of all the different options, you will likely find that it is easier to pedal a free ride bike. These are made with stronger and heavier materials and can weigh as much as 50 pounds. They are great for tight maneuvers and getting around obstacles. Because of their weight however, they can be pretty hard to get around when you’re not pushing it with the pedals.

Other options include street mountain bikes as well as urban and dirt jumping bikes. These are just as strong and in some models, may weigh a little less than the free ride bikes. They have between one and nine gears and both sets of gears have a chain guide.

You’re ready for the road when you have the right gear. Riding rugged bikes like these requires a durable helmet and the right clothing. Once you are out in the wide open with the wind in your face, you will be elated that you took the time to make the right selection.

Mountain bikes are made for off road and train riding and offer the rider an incredible biking experience. These versatile bikes are lightweight, durable and comfortable and can take a pounding on the dirt road or mountain trail. They are made by a variety of manufacturers, and some of the most popular mountain bikes are the Mongoose Mountain Bike and the Diamondback Response. Available in a variety of styles and sizes, they provide a great ride for the serious biker. How do you stay lean without getting bulky when biking?

I bike every day and know that you get more bulk when biking, well at least for me because I gain muscle quite easily. Does anyone know of another exercise routine that can help counter that so I can have a more lean physique? I do yoga quite often, should I practice it more to help my muscles?

Answer
You aren’t going to gain a whole lot of bulk by biking. it’s cardio, and by nature, lots of repetitive muscle use in your legs, which promotes building strength, but not bulk.

Doing lots of cardio prevents you from bulking up because you’re burning a lot of calories, making it difficult to gain muscle mass.

Buying pit bikes and mini motos

For those who aren’t familiar with pit bikes and mini motos, they are simply small motorbikes. The name derives from the fact they were originally used for travelling between pits on race tracks, often used by the pit crews. These days they are used as a fun and easy to ride alternative to motorbikes. They began life in the 1960s and have gone through many changes and revisions over the years, until they arrived at their modern day incarnation.

Pit bike uses

While being far cheaper than a full sized motorbike, a pit bike is far smaller and more versatile. They can be used in areas where space is limited and quick and easy transportation is important. Size and specification varies greatly, with engines ranging from 5HP to 20HP. They have impressive acceleration and can appear to be extremely zippy over short distances. However, despite the impressive acceleration, their top speed is not sufficient for full road use. Due to their small size, they are ideal for children and their low top speed makes them a safer alternative to full sized motorbikes. However, children should be supervised at all times when using pit bikes, as they are still machines with powerful engines. You should also take care to only use pit bikes in suitable track areas and not on the roads or pathways; this can be dangerous for pedestrians due to the high speeds these bikes can achieve in comparison to them.

Specifications and bike care

Prices vary based on power, with more powerful bikes costing progressively more than their less powerful counterparts. When buying a pit bike, it is important to consider where and how you intend to use it. With some bikes being more suited to serious racing, whereas others may be simply for fun, and others suited for children. In addition to pricier bikes having larger engine capacities, pit bike parts and components will increase in quality as the price of the pit bike increases, allowing the owner to ride the bike harder with less chance of a breakdown.

To ensure reliability, owners must follow correct start up procedures, as well as ensuring they use the correct fuel type. Pit bikes use special fuel which is a mix of fuel and oil, and care must be taken to use this correct mix, so that the engine runs to full capacity and efficiency. By doing so, the user ensures that the engine doesn’t wear out prematurely. Some pit bike parts wear extremely quickly, so it is important for the owner to be aware of the inner workings of their pit bike so they are in tune with any early signs of wear. Ideally a pit bike owner should be confident in servicing their own bike. Luckily, pit bike parts are far cheaper than those for their fully sized motorcycle counterparts. Various pit bike parts can be changed in order to customise bikes to be used for stunt riding, including wheels and foot throttles.

Pit bikes can be great fun for people of all ages, but remember to always be safe and ride carefully with proper care and attention at all times.

Mountain Bikes For Healthy Living

Biking is slowly becoming a world famous sport, right now it is one of most popular outdoor activity for Americans and Europeans. More and more people now are falling in love with this sport, the challenge of rough overcoming rough terrains and the fun of being close to nature is one great way to exercise, get into shape and escape from the stressful life in the city.

With the insertion of technology in manufacturing and assembling mountain bikes, there seems to be a new growing interest now in this sport.

What makes mountain biking different from other forms of bike sports is that, this bike is not about who’s had the highest jumps and best stunts on obstacle courses and who’s had that fastest time to get into the finish line. Originally, this sport is for recreational activity, the objective is to maneuver the bicycle through unfriendly terrain, get down dirt trails, and climb steep trails without getting crashed or something. Because this is originally meant for exercise, bikers just push themselves to the limit to overcome the hardest and most unfriendly terrain they can see.

But some people now make this sport a new kind of bike racing, as the challenges here are more difficult than ordinary flat land biking.

What makes mountain biking likable than other bike sports is that it brings you closer to nature, some even compare this type of biking to hiking, as one has to get into the wild and find a way to get out of the wild safely.

There will always be natural obstacles along the way, the challenge is to maneuver the bike through them, some people find pleasure finishing difficult trails while some just enjoy sitting on their bike and pedaling while experiencing the beauty of nature and taking fresh air as they bike.

If you are planning to do something new like doing some extreme sport, then mountain biking will be good for you. You can start by befriending some group of bikers in your area, and let them teach you how to maneuver your bike at the mountains effectively.

The Importance of Light Frames on Mountain Bikes

We can compare the frame of the mountain bike to the backbone of our skeletal system, it is the major part of a bicycle, everything is attached on it from tires, chain, handlebar, gears, etc. It is the main part that makes up a good bike. The frame is usually the basis of most people to classify good bikes from regular ones.

There are so many types of frames for various kinds of bicycles available in the market right now, whether you go to your nearest bike shops, or surf the internet and look for online biking goods stores. Each frame is specially designed for specific use and purpose. There is a light frame, heavy frame, sturdy frame, stainless steel frame, etc. Most good frames however are usually sold at a very high price that is why most people, especially those who are just beginning to love biking, find purchasing new good frames impractical.

Frames don’t only hold the pieces and parts of the bike together; those bicycles that should be built with tough parts and materials to survive rough and unfriendly trails like mountain bikes, speed and comfort should come hand in hand. Speed and comfort also rely on the kind of frame the bike has.

Regular bikes may have tough frames, but the common problem about factory frames is that it is usually heavy and is in free size, this can be a problem for smaller or bigger people.

Frames for mountain bikes should enable the biker to maximize the energy he uses for every pedal he does. This means the frames should be lighter than those we use in regular bikes, because weight plays a big role in maneuvering bicycles in steep and rocky terrains. The fame holds every part of the bike, which means it, should be tough to hold the parts together and withstand the added weight from the biker.

There are even frames right now that are made up of special type alloy which is more comfortable and easy to ride, durable and doesn’t accumulate rust even when used under harsh weather conditions.

History of the stationary Bikes

Do you love the way you work out while sitting on the stationary bike as I do? This is the easiest way to burn out calories and target the fat burning from the areas of your body which have them in excess. But wonder when and why it was invented? Or say, what was the reason which made the inventor come up with something so wonderfully helpful in weight management?

Well, everything comes up with some background and something is there behind the invention of everything, as they say “necessity is the mother of invention”. So, likewise all the useful things being invented out of the necessity the stationary bikes are also the consequence of someone’s dire need of health management.

The history of the stationary bikes dates back to the year 1796 with the invention of the Gymnasticon. The Gymnasticon was invented by Francis Lowndes. This bike, as invented by Francis Lowndes, resembled much the stationary bikes as you can see today. However, the machine was not smarter as you have one placed in your mini-gym besides your bedroom or the one you have seen in the Gyms etc. Gymnasticon was a huge machine having huger parts and the seat which allowed sitting more relaxed as compared to the modern stationary bikes.

The purpose which formed the basis of the invention of this huge stationary exercising machine, Gymnasticon, was the “well-being of the joints of the human body”. So, one can precisely say that Gymnasticon was the “mother stationary bike”.

Afterwards, this invention, much was done in the field of what we call “stationary bike” to such an extent that we have got this smarter and modern stationary bike. All of those bikes which were introduced time to time were put in to the form having the common intention behind them and that was the health and weight management.

Though the main purpose of the stationary bikes behind there invention was the fitness regime however, these days they are used for other purposes as well. One of such purpose is to train the cyclists. Stationary bikes are good in improving stamina. And for those who have cardiovascular problems they can also use these stationary bikes for the cardiovascular therapy. So, stationary bikes are not just a single-purpose machine but multi-benefiting set up of levers and wheels.

The stationary bikes have always proved to be wonder-striking in providing the user with the good health and toned body. If you are the one who have been looking around for some good machine that can help you provide with the all the healthy benefits and toned body then sure you should not waste a minute in considering other single-purpose machine but stationary bike is the best option.
