When you are shopping around for rugged mountain bikes, there are a few features that you absolutely cannot do without. If you are looking for downhill, mud runs or cross country sprees, you want to find the selection that is going to give you the best mobility without compromising on safety. There are numerous selections out there and a little careful consideration given to the type of riding you plan on doing can help you select the right one.
Mountain bikes are meant for the ambitious rider that likes to go off the beaten path and who enjoys the challenge and adventure of off road travel. These bikes are heavier than cross country bikes and by far more durable. They are made for the hairpin turns, dirt roads and no roads at all. When you want to ride on a rocky and steep slope, you need a mountain bike.
Suspension is everything when you are going off of the pavement. You want something that is going to take it a bit easier on the bumps and thuds that are guaranteed to be present. Many newer versions offer strong suspension on both the front and rear wheels of the bicycle.
Of all the different options, you will likely find that it is easier to pedal a free ride bike. These are made with stronger and heavier materials and can weigh as much as 50 pounds. They are great for tight maneuvers and getting around obstacles. Because of their weight however, they can be pretty hard to get around when you’re not pushing it with the pedals.
Other options include street mountain bikes as well as urban and dirt jumping bikes. These are just as strong and in some models, may weigh a little less than the free ride bikes. They have between one and nine gears and both sets of gears have a chain guide.
You’re ready for the road when you have the right gear. Riding rugged bikes like these requires a durable helmet and the right clothing. Once you are out in the wide open with the wind in your face, you will be elated that you took the time to make the right selection.
Mountain bikes are made for off road and train riding and offer the rider an incredible biking experience. These versatile bikes are lightweight, durable and comfortable and can take a pounding on the dirt road or mountain trail. They are made by a variety of manufacturers, and some of the most popular mountain bikes are the Mongoose Mountain Bike and the Diamondback Response. Available in a variety of styles and sizes, they provide a great ride for the serious biker. How do you stay lean without getting bulky when biking?
I bike every day and know that you get more bulk when biking, well at least for me because I gain muscle quite easily. Does anyone know of another exercise routine that can help counter that so I can have a more lean physique? I do yoga quite often, should I practice it more to help my muscles?
Answer
You aren’t going to gain a whole lot of bulk by biking. it’s cardio, and by nature, lots of repetitive muscle use in your legs, which promotes building strength, but not bulk.
Doing lots of cardio prevents you from bulking up because you’re burning a lot of calories, making it difficult to gain muscle mass.
